Summary

The Hematology and Oncology department is in search of a Research Coordinator III to support research and academic endeavors related to clinical research protocols. The ideal candidates for this position should possess prior research experience in clinical studies and demonstrate a basic understanding of cancer biology and/or bone marrow transplantation. The research group primarily concentrates on non-interventional observational studies aimed at examining complications associated with cancer therapies. These studies employ a diverse range of methodologies including clinical epidemiology, health services, and translational approaches.

This position will coordinate day-to-day activities in the cancer center related to clinical study activities, ensuring accurate data collection, documentation, and organization of clinical research protocols. The primary responsibilities include patient enrollment, screening, monitoring of research participants, and reporting to research sponsors. The position requires prior research experience and able to work independently with minimal oversight, Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm.

Job Duties

Research Participant Recruitment & Coordination (30%)

• Conduct interviews, screen, and recruit patients for research studies.
• Educate participants on study procedures, requirements, and expectations.
• Maintain communication with study participants regarding study activities.
• Coordinate with the Principal Investigator (PI), study team, and sponsors.

Data Collection & Study Documentation (25%)

• Gather patient information and process study-related documentation.
• Enter and maintain study data in REDCap and other research databases.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of study records.
• Manage research records and regulatory documents.

Clinical Research Procedures & Specimen Collection (20%)

• Perform venipuncture (blood draws), EKGs, and obtain vital signs as needed.
• Collect biological specimens and ensure adherence to study protocols.
• Maintain participant safety and protocol compliance during procedures.

Specimen Processing & Laboratory Management (15%)

• Process, prepare, ship, and track blood samples and biological specimens.
• Conduct basic laboratory procedures using centrifuges, pipettes, cryovials, and related equipment.
• Organize and maintain specimens in designated freezers for long-term storage.

Administrative & Operational Support (10%)

• Coordinate ordering and inventory of research supplies and equipment.
• Assist with study operations and logistical support.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of research activities.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Organized, self-motivated, teamwork, works well under pressure, multitasking.
• Technical knowledge of REDCap, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Clinical oncology research experience.
