Job Description
Summary
The lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in a laboratory at the Jan and Dan Duncan NRI focused on the underlying genetics and molecular mechanisms of genetic neurological disorders. Postdoctoral Associate will work alongside current postdoctoral associates working on Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and MeCP2 projects.
Baylor College of Medicine typically follows similar to the NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.
Job Duties
- Studies mouse models of disease where they will carry out behavioral studies, neuropath studies and biochemical assays.
- Characterizes IPSC-derived neurons as models of disease and modifies them to study factors contributing to disease or physiological abnormalities. Tests candidate small molecules that might modify diseases in cells and mice.
- Receives advanced research training in human-relevant Parkinson disease models and iPSCs as well as cutting edge approaches in glial biology, neuron-glia communications, and multi-omics.
- Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments as above.
- Evaluates and analyzes data, establishes new research protocols and procedures.
- Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.
- Attends departmental seminars, weekly lab meetings/journal club meetings.
- Presents research findings at lab meeting and discusses assigned journals at journal club.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
