What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are looking for a talented R&D Software & Computer Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in investigating, developing, and supporting software applications that are essential to product development and production processes.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Investigate software issues, develop test documents, configure and analyze software systems and applications.
- Work as a team to support new and existing software applications and subprograms, as well as enhancements and process control.
- Apply software engineering principles, tools, and advanced techniques that support applications critical to product development and production results.
- Collaborate in the planning of system and development deployment including responsibility for meeting software compliance and quality standards.
- The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Salary Range:
$102,400 - $199,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q security clearance and SCI clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
The ideal R&D Computer Systems candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
- Experience installing, configuring, integrating, and deploying new hardware and software within existing systems.
- Experience in systems administration within Unix/Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Demonstrated software development skills and familiarity with modern software development practices and tools (e.g., Agile).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and a passion to improve and expand technical skills.
Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:
- Advanced expertise in software development methodologies, user-centric design, and application functionality.
- Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and successfully complete multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and experience with effective customer engagement strategies.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices.
- Broad knowledge of software development concepts, with specialization in areas such as:
- Proactively researches and evaluates emerging software technologies to enhance solutions.
- Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and engage with diverse stakeholders, with a clear understanding of the business domain.
About Our Team:
Sandia National Laboratories Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) complex provides outstanding processing capability in semiconductor microfabrication. Department 05234, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) supports the infrastructure, programming, security and computing needs of MESA.
