Description
The Clinical Nursing Instructor provides clinical supervision and instruction to undergraduate pre-licensure nursing students, promoting the development of clinical judgment and professional behaviors aligned with course objectives, program outcomes, and evidence-based practice standards.
Clinical instructors collaborate with course faculty and are supported by the Asst. Director of Experiential Education/Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Placement Coordinator (Administrative) and Faculty Mentors.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and instruct students (4-8 per group depending on site) during assigned clinical rotations. Rotations are 8-10 hours shifts depending on location.
  • Facilitate student learning in acute care (medical-surgical), specialty (pediatrics, maternity, mental health), and/or skilled nursing settings
  • Assign patient experiences that align with course objectives and clinical requirements
  • Plan and lead pre-brief and post-clinical conferences
  • Provide ongoing formative feedback to support student development
  • Complete midterm and final clinical evaluations in collaboration with course faculty

Qualifications
  • BSN required (MSN preferred)
  • Minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience
  • Current Maine RN license
  • Recent clinical experience in acute care and/or skilled nursing (within the past 5 years)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification (or by the time of clinical rotation start date).
  • Ability to meet clinical site health, vaccination, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to meet physical and functional role expectations (e.g., lifting up to 50 lbs as per program Technical Standards).
