What Your Job Will Be Like:

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an early career Embedded Threat Analyst with an entrepreneurial mindset to support its mission programs amid a complex geopolitical environment. The role involves analyzing intelligence data from multiple sources to provide timely, high-quality threat analysis and intelligence products across diverse scientific and technical disciplines. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in all-source analytic tradecraft, experience delivering intelligence briefings, and the ability to adapt to varying technical topics and team structures. A strong understanding of the intelligence cycle, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to anticipating intelligence needs are essential. Continuous learning and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams are key to success in this role.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Conduct all-source intelligence analysis on technical topics, synthesizing data from multiple sources to deliver actionable insights.
  • Identify trends and assess intelligence quality to meet customer needs.
  • Apply U.S. Intelligence Community tradecraft standards in analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical experts and scientists, to support mission objectives.
  • Produce clear, concise analytical reports and assessments tailored to technical staff.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings that effectively communicate complex information.
  • Engage with customers to clarify intelligence requirements and ensure satisfaction.
  • Continuously learn emerging technologies and contribute to improving analytical tools and processes.

Salary Range:

$102,400 - $199,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q and SCI clearance which may require a polygraph test.

Qualifications We Desire:

The ideal R&D S&E, Systems Research and Analysis candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:

  • Graduate degree in a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
  • The ability to understand, synthesize, and draw insights from multiple types of data streams (e.g., technical, economic, policy) through the use of various analytical tools.
  • Experience working as part of multi-disciplinary teams examining complex systems.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of good project management, especially as it pertains to the execution of federally-funded work (e.g., proposal development through annal review, final delivery, and closeout).
  • Experience working with federal sponsors in the defense and intelligence sectors, as well as their domestic FFRDC partners, international partnering agencies, and foreign governments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams delivering critical information to customers in a succinct manner.

Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:

  • Proficient in all-source analytic disciplines and tradecraft, analytical tools, and software. Willing to learn how to support technical research and communicate effectively with scientists.
  • Proficient in writing and verbal communication skills, with experience briefing research or intelligence products to a variety of customers.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly and in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, demonstrating a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Experience within the aerospace industry and space systems.
  • Operational intelligence support experience with a civilian or military intelligence organizations.
  • Technical curiosity and an interest and aptitude for learning.

About Our Team:

The Emerging Disruptive Technology department (5934) specializes in technical analysis across all facets of foreign science and technology programs. The department evaluates, researches, and develops emerging technologies by leveraging broad and deep technical expertise from across Sandia and delivers timely analysis and insights for our partners.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
