The Pre-Analytics Processing Technicianis responsible formanually processing laboratory specimens, performing daily quality assuranceactivities,andmaintainingequipment. A caregiver in thispositionworksPRN|rotatingdays/evenings+ weekends and holidays|7:00am—3:30pmor 3:00pm—11:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Receive andaccessionspecimens into the LIS (Lab Information System).
Prepare specimens for analysis.
Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting, and routine maintenance), problem-solvingfunctions,and issue resolution.
Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).
Perform QA activities (pendinglog audit).
Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens and verify receipts in the lab.
Perform basic clerical functions (i.e.,answeringphones).
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GEDandone year of lab experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Associate's degree, preferably in a science related field(this may substitute theoneyear of experience needed above)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements
- May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.
- Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.
- Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
- Must have normal or corrected vision.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $22.25
Maximum hourly: $22.25
