What Your Job Will Be Like:
Join Sandias High Security Operations (HSO) IT team supporting both the HSO IT Infrastructure team and the HSO Mission IT team to operate, maintain, and secure classified local and wide-area networks that support national security missions. This role involves administering and enforcing communications security (COMSEC) policies and protocols, deploying and supporting advanced networking and video/VoIP systems, proactively monitoring network performance, and ensuring reliable, secure connectivity for mission-critical partners.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, configure, operate, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and related secure hardware in classified environments.
- Implement, enforce, and manage COMSEC policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive communications.
- Manage physical and electronic keying material, communications security accounts, and audit records in compliance with NSA, DOE, and other government agency directives.
- Monitor network health, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks or off-normal behavior, and respond to security incidents to restore optimal operation.
- Perform hardware additions, changes, and upgrades related to secure communications infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce network security measures and respond to security investigations.
- Create, update, and maintain detailed documentation including network configurations, COMSEC procedures, forms, and policies, ensuring compliance with program, corporate, and federal guidelines.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on network operations, security best practices, and COMSEC requirements.
- Analyze, interpret, and implement communications and technical policies from NSA, DOE, and other government agencies.
Due to the nature of the work, this candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$74,700 - $144,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- High school diploma, plus three years of directly related experience
- Expertise operating and securing LAN/WAN infrastructure, switches, firewalls, including hardware/software upgrades and building network utilities.
- Demonstrated familiarity with COMSEC procedures, and policies, ensuring compliance with program, corporate, and federal guidelines.
- Advanced troubleshooting and performance monitoring, with incident response and network health intervention.
- Proficient in networking protocols, encryption technologies, and secure hardware/software configurations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and a SCI clearance (polygraph may be required).
Qualifications We Desire:
- Strong COMSEC skills: physical and electronic key management, account oversight, and audit compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; collaborative team player who models Sandias values of integrity, excellence, and innovation
- Professional certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CISSP)
- Familiarity with government regulations, agency directives, and classified matter protection and control
- Experience deploying and supporting video conferencing and VoIP systems
- Prior experience providing customer-focused technical support in classified environments
- Proficiency with OSI model layers, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN protocols, encryption technologies, cryptographic protocols, and secure hardware configurations.
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI clearance (polygraph may be required).

High Security Operations (HSO) performs high-impact, national security work for a broad segment of the Intelligence Community (IC) and other high level security customers. Mission IT is a specialized IT team dedicated to the delivery of innovative solutions to support Sandia mission-critical partnership with other government agencies (OGAs). Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:
