Job Description
Job SummaryDevelops and applies practical skills and learns tools to assist with identifying cyber security concerns affecting campus systems. Learns how to create, monitor and maintain safeguards to ensure the cyber security of campus systems. Please note this position is an apprenticeship within Kennesaw State University Information Technology Services department; it does not guarantee permanent employment with the University.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
1. Collaborates with UITS team members and KSU departments to address security incidents and fulfill service requests
2. Collaborates with cybersecurity team members on initiatives and recommendations for improvements
3. Learns and utilizes security tools for continuous monitoring and analysis of system activity to identify malicious activity
4. Assists with analyzing security alerts from various sources within the enterprise
5. Assists with determining possible causes of security alerts
6. Provides customer service while addressing Office of Cybersecurity tasks

High school diploma or equivalent

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Will acquire experience with security tools
Will acquire experience with collaborating with multiple university departments
Will acquire experience with regulations pertaining to storage and handling of confidential and sensitive data, to include PII, FERPA, regulated research, etc.
Learn to identify systemic security issues based on data analysis and collaboration with functional users / administrators
SKILLS
Interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Attention to detail and follow up skills
Customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
