Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:Provide advanced-level technical support, systems analysis, and consultation for university computing environments with specific focus on supporting the clinical simulation systems for the College of Health Sciences at the Mountain View Medical Park. This position requires independent judgement and decision-making in configuring troubleshooting and maintaining complex systems and applications. Acts as a subject matter expert for computing systems with assigned units, serving as a liaison with central IT, and ensuring robust and secure technology operations across administrative and academic units. Act as a liaison between departmental units and information technology, provide information on information technology services, recommend hardware and software upgrades and replacements, and research and evaluate new software and hardware. Prepare documentation for internal and external technology knowledge needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advanced Technical Support: Provide advanced-level computer systems analysis and technical support for academic and administrative departments in the College of Health Sciences with primary responsibility for configuring, running and managing the clinic simulation system at the Mountain View Medical Park. Serve as the lead resource for troubleshooting advanced, escalated issues involving software, networking, and system failures.
System Management: Install, configure, and maintain complex software systems, databases, and hardware; manage system updates and monitor performance 3. Identify and resolve system and application issues with a focus on root-cause analysis and long-term stability.
User Needs Assessment: Assess user needs and design, develop, and implement technical solutions that align with unit and university goals. Evaluate departmental technology needs and recommend strategic improvements and long-term planning solutions.
Documentation and Training: Develop and maintain documentation for advanced systems, procedures, and user training materials. Provide training and technical guidance to faculty, staff, and student workers on proper use of technology and tools. Accurately log customer contacts. Provide timely feedback and response to customers and management.
Collaboration and Compliance: Collaborate with Information Technology and security personnel to ensure compliance with institutional security protocols 9. Participate in the design and management of localized LAN/WAN infrastructure and services, including system backups and disaster recovery planning.
Automation and Efficiency: Design custom scripts, reports, and automation tools to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain inventory of computer-related materials/supplies.
Assist with departmental procedures and interpretation of policy.
Keep abreast of new or enhanced technologies; may recommend software/hardware purchases.
Evaluate and assess departmental needs; recommend or develop improvements to system.
