POSITION INFORMATION:  The Assistant Program Director for the OU OTD Program supports the Program Director in ensuring the quality, integration, and continuous improvement of the academic and clinical curriculum. This role focuses on organizing and coordinating Curriculum Committee activities, gathering and analyzing data for ongoing curriculum review, managing curricular tracking within EXXAT, and contributing to accreditation reports and the Annual Curriculum Review. The position dedicates 40% effort to curriculum support and administration (APD Duties), with the remainder of the workload including teaching (40%), research/scholarship (10%), and service (10%). Additional responsibilities may include other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Department Chair.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Teaching:

  • Teaches in the OTD program, which may include interdisciplinary coursework, using innovative and evidence-based teaching strategies and the use of electronic learning platforms.
  • Participates in curriculum development and review for the OTD and curriculum development and review of the integrated curriculum with PT as assigned.
  • OTD student advisement and mentoring; OTD capstone mentoring.
  • Supports and promotes a collaborative and positive learning environment for students.
  • Participate in post-professional teaching and mentoring as qualified and interested.

Research/ Scholarship:

  • Participate in research/scholarship as defined by the University of Oklahoma and meet ACOTE standards for mentoring students in research and capstone experience projects.
  • Maintain a consistent record of research/scholarship dissemination activities to include publications and presentations through local, national, and international opportunities.
  • As interested and available, participation in mentoring students in post-professional doctoral thesis or dissertation committees, per OUHSC Graduate College policy.

Service:

  • Participate in University, College, Department, and Program committees.
  • Participate in and supervise clinical service activities that support the mission of the institution. 
  • Participate in the development of innovative and interprofessional outreach programs.
  • Active participation in AOTA, OKOTA, and other professional associations.

 

Required:

  • Occupational Therapist with an earned post-professional doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, PP-OTD) awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency. Doctoral degrees are not limited to a doctorate in occupational therapy.
  • Candidate must be licensed in Oklahoma or meet all eligibility requirements for Oklahoma licensure. If Oklahoma licensure eligible, Oklahoma licensure must be achieved within six months of hire date.
  • At least 3 years’ experience within an academic program setting.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Effectual interpersonal skills with individuals and within teams.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Contemporary knowledge in the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, occupational therapy theories and practice models.
  • Three years of clinical experience.
  • Capable of teaching a wide range of occupational therapy coursework. Special consideration given to specialty in adult neuro and/or geriatric experience.
