City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.
With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn’t standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.
** Day shift typically works 7 am to 3:30 pm. Weekend availability is required. **
The Materials Specialist is responsible for sustaining and overseeing medical and/or surgical supplies, and providing service and support to clinicians, physicians, and City of Hope departments to care for the patients we serve.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Have strong communication skills in-person, over the phone, and via email.
- Analyze item usage and cost to determine and adjust stock levels, reduce inventory cost, execute action on material phase-in and phase-out
- Work with Purchasing to obtain technical information, specifications, recommended vendors, understand backorder risks, determine substitute material availability, communicate risks or concerns to supply, manage open orders and RTV requests
- Review transactions daily to ensure supply issuances, receiving, inventory adjustments, and any other transactions are performed accurately
- Complete requisitions for supplies that are needed, and submit to Purchasing prior to cut-off time
- Execute daily inventory transactions (e.g. Receipts, transfers, fulfillments, adjustments, express issues, etc.) accurately and same-day
- Coordinate with purchasing, supply chain, receiving personnel, vendors and accounts payable personnel to resolve problems encountered with purchase orders.
- Execute cycle counts daily, expiration date management, cleaning and maintenance of inventory and bins, correct labeling and barcoding of inventory and inventory storage locations, and other actions maintenance on a regular cadence to ensure inventory accuracy and quality.
Your qualifications should include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in Supply Chain/Materials department.

Salary range: $68,640 - $76,502
