Job Description

 

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy seeks a full-time radiopharmacist/nuclear pharmacist at the assistant professor rank to support the PET Production Facility as well as nuclear pharmacy operations. Responsibilities will include active participation in the day-to-day operation of cyclotron for production of clinical/research doses, teaching, and research.

The OU College of Pharmacy is part of the University of Oklahoma Health, a comprehensive academic research-intensive University campus with six professional Colleges (Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Allied Health, and Public Health) and a Graduate College. As part of its long-term commitment to education, patient care and research productivity, the College of Pharmacy is establishing a cyclotron facility housed within a historically successful nuclear pharmacy operation. To further develop this project, the college is looking to hire a candidate with a strong background in radiopharmaceutical development, synthesis, and analytics.  

Qualified candidates should have experience in cyclotron operations and the use of radioactivity in radiopharmaceutical synthesis and diagnostic/therapeutic applications. Strong preference will be given to candidates who show inclination towards research with demonstrable ability to attract extramural funds. Prior work in related academic settings and involvement in research will be preferred. The successful candidate will work with a team comprised of nuclear pharmacists, technicians, and researchers to support orderly dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals and their documentation in accordance with requirements of the regulatory agencies and good clinical practices; actively participate in existing research programs for the development and evaluation of new radiopharmaceutical agents; facilitate education and training of students, laboratory personnel, and staff; procure radionuclides and other active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and/or precursors; and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following competencies, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal attributes:

  • PharmD or PhD degree in radiochemistry, nuclear pharmacy or related field
  • Experience with radiolabeling of biochemicals and radiochemical synthesis
  • Knowledge of cyclotron operations, analytical methods (HPLC, GC, etc.)
  • Meets requirements to work in the U.S.
  • Familiarity with regulations governing the use of radioactivity in medicine
  • Eligible for designation as an authorized use
  • Published research

Preferred:

  • Board certification in nuclear pharmacy and license
  • Familiarity with preclinical imaging
  • Prior work in related academic settings and involvement in research
  • Ability to develop collaborations
  • Board certification in nuclear pharmacy and licensed

  • History of extramural research funding
