City of Hope is excited to announce an exciting opportunity for Nursing students enrolled into a BSN or ELM Program.
As a Nurse Intern you will work under the direction of a licensed provider or Registered Nurse, who will provide you with guidance and professional experience in pursuit of your Nursing degree.
As a Nurse Intern you will:
· Assist with evaluation of nursing care by collecting subjective and objective data and recognition of problems or abnormal conditions specific to patients of all ages.
· Monitor medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate health care team member.
· Apply good interpersonal and communication process utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills to achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
The objective for you as a Nurse Intern is to learn and:
· Direct patient care in a manner consistent with the scope of practice of their discipline and the standards established by City of Hope as expressed in the plans for provision of care and policies and procedures.
· Participate in basic procedures within the scope of practice of an unlicensed member of the multidisciplinary team.
· Provide patient education when appropriate, provides health care instructions and documents in the EMR.
· Follow organizational and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
· Practice universal precautions with respect to established safety protocols.
· Facilitate communication between the provider(s) and patient as needed, including translation as appropriate.
· Maintain workstation in accordance with protecting PHI.
· Adhere to identified nursing standards of practice.
To qualify for a Nurse Intern position, you must have:
· Must be actively enrolled in a BSN or ELM program
· Cannot hold an RN license.
· Must have successfully completed medical/ surgical practicum.
