Position Summary:
As Clinical Manager of Couples Coping Together Against Cancer, this position provides clinical care, expertise, leadership, and strategy for the program’s continued development, with attention to daily operations, scalability and sustainability. The Clinical Manager of the program works with Department leadership and other key stakeholders to develop and refine clinical and programmatic operations, vision, goals, and expected outcomes; to design program implementation and expansion; to evaluate and communicate result measures.

This position provides clinical leadership and is directly engaged in the provision of clinical care. The clinical care offered in this role involves a standardized approach to the provision of psychoeducation and couples counseling to the patients and partners engaged in the program.
The Clinical Manager oversees the comprehensive Couples Coping Together Against Cancer program. This includes related marketing, advocacy, community awareness, and fundraising efforts. This position provides clinical training, leads in national recruitment of candidates, and mentors colleagues in clinical care, research, publications, and presentations related to the program.

With the goal of sustainability, scalability, and maximum program impact, the Clinical Manager focuses on relationship and partnership building with key internal and external stakeholders; incorporates the use of digital technologies and other means to maximize resources while expanding the program; and seeks program support in fundraising and stewardship through individual donors, grants, and foundations.

As a leader in the Department of Supportive Care Medicine, the Clinical Manager of Couples Coping Together Against Cancer works toward and within the vision and mission of the Department, collaborating with Department leadership in strategic efforts focused on deepening integration of Supportive Care Medicine and its expansion across the City of Hope System.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Acts as a primary administrative leader for Couples Coping Together Against Cancer. This includes development and implementation of short and long-range goals and objectives for the program. It also includes translating and reflecting the broader Department of Supportive Care Medicine and City of Hope system goals and financial strategy into the program goals, fundraising efforts and program outcomes.
  • Builds and supports effective strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders including individual donors and foundations. Provides clinical training, incorporates the use of digital technologies, leads in national recruitment of candidates, and mentors colleagues in research, publication, and presentations related to the program.
  • Personnel Management:
    • Recruits, interview, hires, trains, evaluates and disciplines employees.
    • Sets standards for work against which performance is measured and evaluated
    • Grants/denies personal leave time for staff according to coverage and practice policy
    • Conducts regular staff meeting. Oversees cross-training and education of administrative staff
    • Promotes cooperation of the staff to achieve department objectives and maintain good department relations.
    • Assigns work, provides direction, reviews performance, and motivates staff to exceptional performance. Ensures that department is run efficiently and in an organized fashion
    • Communicates observations or concerns in a timely manner
    • Establishes positive communication and effective working relationships. Uses appropriate lines of authority
    • Effectively partners with all of City of Hope Team
  • Provides direct clinical care to couples in multi-modalities.

Your qualifications should include:

  • MSW, MFT, or Masters/experience in related field
  • 5 years developing programs, leadership, healthcare operations, and clinical work.
  • 1 year of experience in a leadership capacity.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $56.43 - $94.23 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
