Job Description
Summary of Position:A position is immediately available in the lab of Department of Plant and Microbial Biology, University of Minnesota or a highly motivated Researcher to study the metabolism of members of the methanogenic archaea (methanogens). This work will leverage techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry to understand the metabolic versatility of the methanogens. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, or a related field, a strong publication record, and experience in any of the following areas: anaerobic microbiology, protein purification and enzymology, microbial genetics, or microbial metabolism and physiology.
Essential and Other Functions:
75% Research
The postdoctoral scholar will design and carry out experiments to understand the metabolism of methanogenic archaea.
15% Publication and presentation of data
The postdoctoral scholar is expected to communicate their research findings through publication in peer-reviewed research journals and presentation at local and national meetings.
10% Training and mentoring of students
The Researcher will work with undergraduate and graduate students in the lab and is expected to foster the development of junior lab members.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Advanced degree with or more years of research training.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $43,717.65 to $70,000.00 depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
