Reporting to the Senior Executive Director, Philanthropy Marketing and Communications, the Manager works as part of a team that produces communications materials for the Office of Philanthropy. Under the guidance of the Senior Executive Director, the Manager will (1) make a strong case about the impact of investing in the organization’s strategic priorities, (2) develop communications strategies that demonstrate a deep understanding of our primary donor audiences, (3) synthesize complex scientific information into language that resonates with donors and key stakeholders, and (4) provide both proactive and reactive writing support. The Manager must have a strong grasp of fundraising and integrated marketing channels. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner with philanthropy colleagues, faculty, administrators, and staff. The Manager is expected to demonstrate tact, excellent attention to detail, and independent judgment in the preparation and development of impact reports.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Provide proactive and reactive marketing collateral. Synthesize or translate complex scientific content into compelling and accessible narratives.
  • Collaborate with researchers, recipients of donor funds, and other stakeholders to obtain narratives, abstracts, publications, financial details, and/or white papers from which to build integrated communications strategies; ensure the accuracy and completeness of content.
  • Ensure marketing materials are effectively organized and presented; develop compelling, accurate, and credible content that is consistent with the organization’s research, funding priorities and key fundraising opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate the organization’s mission, values, and scope in all donor materials.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor's Degree. Experience may substitute.
  • At least 5 years of experience in fundraising or stewardship. Relevant education or related experience in health care may substitute for part of this requirement.
  • City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or biomedical research is strongly recommended.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $46.25 - $77.24 / hour
