Role Summary
Assists in the management of IT infrastructure with responsibilities that may range from providing support and maintenance for both physical and wireless network infrastructure, including peripheral devices (such as computer desktops, projectors, copiers, and printers), all the way to managing the technical side of an organization's web content platform.



This role emphasizes a hands-on approach to integrating and maintaining classroom technologies. Team members thrive in an environment that values problem-solving, proactive maintenance, and effective communication. The department offers extensive opportunities to work with advanced multimedia products (extron, biamp, barco, etc) and contribute to strategic technological improvements that directly impact the university's educational outcomes.



As an Academic Instructional Technology Consultant I, you will:

-Provide hardware and software support for classroom technology, ensuring devices are fully functional, updated and meet security standards.
-Offer training and technical assistance to instructors and university staff, enabling effective use of classroom technology resources.
-Collaborate with other IT professionals to resolve issues and enhance the classroom experience.
-Maintain a working knowledge of emerging instructional tools and technologies to suggest and implement improvements.

Examples of Work Performed
Daily Operations:
-Install, configure, and test classroom A/V equipment, including projectors, multimedia players, lecterns, microphones, speakers, interactive panels, and attendance scanners.
-Respond promptly to tickets, diagnosing and resolving hardware & software issues.
-Train faculty and staff on using instructional technologies in a classroom.



Proactive Maintenance:
-Schedule and execute regular inspections to ensure all equipment is operational and perform updates and related maintenance tasks.
-Work with supervisor to identify and implement hardware upgrades or replacements.



Knowledge Enhancement:
Regularly review industry literature and attend training sessions to stay updated on new technologies and software.

Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Assists with routine assessment of department computer systems and software to ensure that all department functionality requirements and campus security standards are being met.
2. Supports in the installation, update and troubleshooting of departmental software and hardware.
3. Anticipates replacing or updating departmental computer hardware and software, including developing cost analysis and budgets to meet future needs.

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications
2 years of graduate level education and relevant experience related to job duties preferred.
