The successful candidate:

  • Job type: Full-time with alternating weekends

  • Hours: 8am - 4:00pm

  • Performs a variety of complex floor care duties including, but not limited to, operating specialized floor care equipment, commercial vacuum use, stripping/refinishing carpets and hard floor surfaces, and other general cleaning duties in order to provide a safe, attractive, environment for patients, visitors, and employees within the hospital.

  • Responds promptly to all requests for services.

  • Maintaining thorough knowledge of chemicals utilized and chemical safety procedures

  • Completing logs and maintains all other required documentation.

  • Follows established guidelines and protocols to ensure safety while operating equipment and furniture and ensure repairs are reported.

  • Moderately complex work often requiring independent judgement.

  • May assist leadership with new hire onboarding and on-the-job training on cleaning techniques, chemical usage, supply restocking, and infection control procedures including hand hygiene.

  • Focuses on and serves as a role model of responsive customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years relevant experience preferred, but not required

  • Healthcare Environmental Services experience preferred

  • Floor Care experience preferred

  • Must be able to communicate effectively, read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Strong customer services skills

  • Ability to work well on a team

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Additional Necessary Requirements

50% Performs general cleaning duties for assigned unit by completing established tasks such as:

  • Follow the 7-step method of cleaning (1) Handy hygiene, (2) Pull all trash and dirty linen; disinfect trash bin or hamper inside & out, (3) High dust all surfaces, ensuring all vents and fixtures in all areas are dusted including the restroom. With the expectation of a stem cell room (No dusting just saturated microfiber cleaning.), (4) Using hospital approved disinfectant clean all surfaces (counter tops knobs etc.), furnishing (beds, chairs, tables etc.) and equipment (IV poles, commodes etc.) with a saturated microfiber cloth that will meet dwell time, (5) Dust Mop, then wet mop floor with hospital approve disinfectant. With the exception for a stem cell room (Wet mop only), (6) Restock all necessities including linen, (7) Inspect your work and perform hand hygiene again when exiting the room.

  • Responding quickly to all requests for service.

  • Other duties may include removing and replacing soiled curtain and draperies, vacuuming floors, placing wet floor sign and remove when dry, washing walls, cleaning upholstery and furniture to the materials specifications, cleaning patient rooms, stairwells, hallways, etc. Maintaining thorough knowledge of chemicals utilized and chemical safety procedures.

  • Completing logs and maintaining all other required documentation.

20% Equipment Operation

  • Maintains, cleans, re-stocks cart supplies, and safely stores equipment daily.

  • Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment needing repair.

  • Cleans vacuum filters according to schedule.

  • Follows established guidelines and protocols to ensure safety while operating equipment and furniture.

20% Safety Sensitive Assignments

  • Assists in cleaning of emergency spills (chemo), observed or upon request.

  • Maintains knowledge on Chemo Disposal, Accidental spills, or Exposure.

  • Ability to Clean Isolation Rooms, C-diff cleaning, and practice Air born and Contact Precautions.

  • Follows bone marrow transplant unit cleaning procedures and policies.

  • Keeps chemicals and equipment in hand when cleaning rooms with patients.

  • Discuss all isolation, chemo/radiation case rooms with nursing staff to establish the safety and cleaning. procedures for those specific rooms and what type of PPE may be necessary.

  • Use personal protective equipment and actions when working with hazardous materials, including all cleaning chemicals.

10% Performs all other duties assigned. Percentages of time spent on essential duties are subject to change due to business needs

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $17.51 - $22.56 / hour
