Purpose of Position
The School of Computing and Analytics (SCA) (https://sca.nku.edu) at NKU invites applications for tenure-track positions in Cybersecurity at the rank of Assistant Professor, scheduled to start in August 2025. Salary and benefits are competitive.

We seek candidates with expertise in areas such as mobile and cloud security, web security, digital forensics, ethical hacking, and risk analysis. Expertise in additional cybersecurity and information technology domains will also be considered. Successful candidates will primarily contribute to our B.S. and M.S. programs in Cybersecurity and Information Technology, with opportunities to engage in other programs like Computer Science and Software Engineering.

NKU has been designated a National Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense by the NSA and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, making it a key player in cybersecurity education in the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati region. The SCA supports multiple student organizations, including the NKCyber/ACM club and Kentucky’s first WiCyS chapter, which has established the NKU CyberDefense student team, known for its success in competitions.

The School of Computing and Analytics (SCA) is part of the College of Informatics (https://informatics.nku.edu), which combines the School of Computing and Analytics with the School of Media and Communication to embrace the modern concept of information in all its aspects. In 2011, the College moved into its $52 million building, Griffin Hall. The SCA offers multiple degrees across three program clusters: computer science & software engineering, cybersecurity & information technology, and information systems & analytics, with around 1,250 undergraduate and graduate students. The CYS&IT cluster specifically offers undergraduate majors in Cybersecurity and Information Technology, as well as a master’s program in Cybersecurity.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and teach both face-to-face and online courses. The standard teaching load in the School of Computing and Analytics is three classes per semester, including two upper-level courses. The candidate will be expected to teach across multiple programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Maintain an active research agenda in the field, with an emphasis on involving undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly activities.
Engage in service activities, including serving on committees at the School, College, and University levels, contributing to the professional community, participating in initiatives like the annual Cybersecurity Symposium, and supporting student organizations such as NKCyber and the WiCyS chapter.
The successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Northern Kentucky / Cincinnati area.
Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered.
