Position Summary

The Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit provides comprehensive care to patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation. BMT is a complex procedure often used to treat various hematologic malignancies, genetic disorders, and certain autoimmune diseases. In addition to providing standard chemotherapy/immunotherapy treatments for hematological malignancies, this unit also provides CAR T therapy for a variety of diseases. There is a wide variety of clinical trial patients and collaboration with the clinical research nurses to infuse study drugs. The unit is designed to provide a supportive environment for patients undergoing transplantation, from pre-transplant evaluation to post-transplant recovery and long-term follow-up.

The Resource Nurse is a vital part of the healthcare team, dedicated to maintaining continuous and high-quality patient care by providing scheduled breaks and relief coverage for staff nurses. This role ensures that patient care is uninterrupted and that nursing staff can take necessary breaks, maintaining their well-being and productivity. The Resource Nurse will step in to cover various assignments, adapting quickly to different patient care needs and environments. This position requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and patient populations.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Provide relief coverage for meal and rest periods for staff assigned to care for patients
  • Ensure seamless continuation of patient care during nurse breaks and absences
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and perform necessary treatments
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records during relief coverage
  • Support nursing staff by addressing immediate patient care needs and resolving any issues that arise during coverage
  • Understand and apply the City of Hope Code of Conduct, Code of Organizational Ethics, policies, procedures, performance and quality improvement objectives

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is required
  • Current California RN license
  • More than three (3) years related nursing experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $59.57 - $86.37 / hour
