Job Description
The Russ College of Engineering and Technology invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Instruction in Computer Science.

The Assistant Professor of Instruction will be expected to provide additional depth for education and teaching in the school of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, broaden horizons of our students by supporting existing efforts to develop inclusive pedagogy while utilizing modern software engineering tools to teach computer science classes.

The Assistant Professor of Instruction will teach computer science courses such as Introduction to Computer Science I/II (C++, Linux), Database Systems, Software Engineering Tools & Practices, and Data Structures, to both majors and non-majors such as students enrolled in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Engineering programs.

The Assistant Professor of Instruction hire will be expected to teach three computer science courses per semester to meet student demand. Successful candidates will be highly engaged with student mentoring, inclusive and innovative pedagogy, deep learning, and assessment, and incorporating evidence-based practices for equitable outcomes into their work. Responsibilities include: Areas of instructional emphasis include computer programming courses, computer ethics, cybersecurity, software engineering tools, data science, and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities include reviewing and developing curriculum, ensuring that class materials are up to date, and communicating effectively with the students at all levels. The selected candidate is also expected to assist in collecting assessment and providing documentation for ABET accreditation.

About EECS, Ohio University:
The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) is in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University. The School of EECS offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. At present there are roughly 450 undergraduate students, 125 master’s degree students and 40 PhD students in the School of EECS. EECS employs 22 full-time tenured, tenure-track and instructional faculty. New sponsored research awards in the School of EECS have averaged roughly $4M per year over the last five years, and numerous research collaboration opportunities exist within the School’s Avionics Engineering Center and Center for Scientific Computing and Immersive Technologies (CSCIT).

Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
