What You Will Achieve
As a Senior Associate Scientist in the oncology research unit (ORU) organization, you will be at the center of our operations and you’ll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to develop breakthrough therapies. You will be part of a team that is addressing the critical task to support research of Oncology programs entering the candidate stage and proceeding into the clinic.
You will contribute to the generation of data packages to support regulatory filings and studies designed to broaden our understanding of the target biology, the molecule's mechanism of action (MoA) and the tumor's mechanism of resistance. You will be an essential member of this team and execute key experiments to address the basic and translational biology of novel drug targets, their molecular pathways, and their connection to human disease.
With your deep knowledge in the discipline, and technical expertise, you will be an active team member who influences at the project team level. You will be using your scientific judgment to adapt standard methods and techniques by applying prior work experience and consulting others. Your ability to plan will help in preparing short-term work activities on projects. Your creativity in developing novel processes and new ideas will be used frequently.

How You Will Achieve It
- Contribute to team goals by influencing at the work group/project team level.
- Apply technical skills, scientific and functional knowledge to projects/ assignments within own work group/ project team independently and proactively.
- Perform laboratory experiments to help establish robust disease biology, cell-based compound screening assays across a broad array of target classes for the project teams.
- Prepare and present experimental results to project teams.
- Comply with all safety training and good laboratory practices.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field and 3+ years of relevant experience in the Academic/biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
- Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field and 0+ years of relevant experience in the Academic/biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
- Solid understanding of concepts of molecular, cellular, and cancer biology.
- Proficiency in mammalian cell culture including management of frozen stocks and culturing under selective pressure.
- Experience in cellular assays including cell proliferation and cytotoxicity assays.
- Experience in immune cell-based assays such as fluorescent microscopy, flow-cytometry, and ELISA.
- Ability to troubleshoot, interpret, and summarize scientific data.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must be goal-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience creating and characterizing genetically modified cell lines using viral vector-based or electroporation/transfection-based techniques.
- Understanding of molecular biology assays including DNA cloning, PCR, qPCR, and Western blotting.
- Experience with oncology drug development.
- Experience with high throughput and automated lab equipment and assays.
