Role Summary

The Environment, Health and Safety Lead role is responsible for promoting compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations at Commercials sites within Europe and Russia.

Reporting directly to the Commercial and Hubs Environment, Health and Safety Lead the Europe and Russia EHS Lead will foster a culture of safety and sustainability by collaborating with team members, Country Managers and Environment, Health and Safety Coordinators to develop and implement environment, health and safety programmes to create a cohesive safety culture to promote unified commitment from all levels of the organisation.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of environment, health and safety professionals located at multiple locations across Europe and Russia to ensure that all Global Workplace Experience supported operations and locations have compliant environment, health and safety programs.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, customers, vendors, contractors, and consultants, to foster a culture of safety and resilience across the Europe and Russia.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Country Managers to ensure accountability for environment, health and safety and business resilience is understood and implemented.

  • Implement Pfizer environment, health and safety standards to create policies, procedures, and programs to maintain a safe and sustainable work environment.

  • Support the Global Workplace Experience environment, health and safety governance structure, through attendance at regular meetings, communicating key information and documenting outcomes.

  • Provide independent assessments of environment, health and safety performance and conducts reviews to ensure environment, health and safety risks at European and Russian sites are identified, evaluated, and effectively managed in compliance with regulatory and Pfizer environment, health and safety management system requirements.

  • Monitor and evaluate environment, health and safety performance and compliance of operations, locations and business lines in Europe and Russia using audits, inspections, metrics and feedback.

  • Ensure appropriate environment, health and safety and business resilience training is delivered to European and Russian Commercial employees and contractors.

  • Support Pfizer Net Zero goals and Global Workplace Experience Sustainability and Wellbeing strategy, and in partnership with the Global Workplace Experience Environment Advisor ensure Sustainability Master Plans are developed and managed where applicable in European and Russian offices.

  • Support development and maintenance of emergency response plans and associated training, to ensure colleagues and contractors are prepared for emergency situations.

  • Ensure incidents and near-misses, are reported, root causes identified, and corrective and preventative actions implemented and where applicable lead the investigation process.

  • Provide audit lifecycle support to sites (including maintaining audit readiness across European and Russian sites).

  • Ensure that annual environmental, health and safety management systems reviews are undertaken at local sites in Europe and Russia and contribute to the wider Global Workplace Experience annual environment, health and safety management system review.

  • Contribute to data analysis and review, including preparation of performance reports to identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, or a related field.

  • A minimum of seven years’ experience within environmental, health and safety.

  • Ability to identify relevant environmental, health and safety legislation and interpret requirements across differing European and Russian markets.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing environment, health and safety programs across international markets.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in developing and implementing emergency response procedures and overseeing incident investigation and root cause analysis.

Nice-to-Have

  • NEBOSH Level 6 international diploma for Occupational and Safety Management.

  • Experience working across multiple countries, cultures and time zones.

  • Experience with environment, health and safety management systems.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.

  • Working knowledge of the United Nations Net Zero commitments and sustainability and wellbeing design principles (including Leadership in Energy and Environment Design - LEED).

  • Professional membership of an internationally recognized environment, health and safety body.
