Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess the following requirements:

A PhD in Anthropology is preferred. Individuals who are ABD may be considered, but the degree must be awarded within 12 months of the first semester of employment.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience in applied forensic anthropology. Preference will be given to qualified applicants who also have prior forensic casework (as primary analyst or first author) experience, and who can continue casework with the Hamilton County Medical Examiner Office.

Applicants must be able to teach forensic anthropology, and a range of topics related to biological anthropology. Preference will be given to individuals with existing experience teaching courses on these topics: biological anthropology, forensic science, forensic anthropology, and osteology.

Candidates must have demonstrated potential to teach in a variety of instructional modalities, including lab-based, online, and face-to-face. Preference will be given to applicants with experience utilizing High Impact Educational Practices (HIEP), including active and experiential learning.

Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC’s Strategic Plan.

Additionally, candidates will need to include names, titles, and email addresses for three (3) references for confidential letters of recommendation to be requested. Letters of recommendation will only be requested for the position finalists.

Expected Salary Range: $40,000 - $45,000

The Department of Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies (SCJS), within the College of Arts and Sciences, offers B.A. or B.S. degrees in Anthropology, a minor in Geography, a B.S. in Sociology, and a B.S. in Criminal Justice (including an online B.S. program). The department also offers a graduate program (M.S.) in Criminal Justice. We have 25 tenured, tenure-track, and lecturer faculty in the department and we serve over 500 majors across our disciplines.
