This role will have multiple responsibilities that include assisting Patient Financial Services manager with various projects including audit and reports. The Financial Specialist will be required to provide general analytical support for staff with technical issues, as necessary.

The Financial Specialist must be skilled in providing appropriate analysis of the various payment and billing issues common to the revenue cycle process, and able to review report findings various issues posed by management and staff. The Financial Specialist will also be responsible for working other various reports as assigned by management.

Another objective of the Financial Specialist is to bill and follow-up on high dollar accounts for Medi-Cal and CCS. The Financial Specialist is to work with Case Management in securing CCS Inpatient Service Authorization Request.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Knowledge of CCS and Medi-Cal billing guidelines and regulations.
  • Analyzes aged and problem accounts and determines when accounts are uncollectible.
  • Notify Manager of any updates or Medi-Cal regulations and process changes.
  • Responsible for assigned activity within specific units as assigned by manager.
  • Updates account with appropriate transactions to reflect current billing and/or collection status. Troubleshoots and resolves aged and problem accounts.
  • Maintains professional growth and development and keeps abreast of latest trends in area of expertise. Maintains current knowledge of collection policies and procedures and related legislation.

Your qualifications should include:

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Three to five years in related field and/or areas.
  • Preferably: Bachelor's Degree. Five years in a healthcare or business environment.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $28.88 - $40.43 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
