We strive to research behavioral and lifestyle interventions for health promotion. Our faculty have many expertise which include injury prevention studies, obesity prevention, statistical modeling and many more. Our mission in whole is to improve health and prevent illnesses. As the Institute of Public and Preventative Health we achieve our mission through research, service, leadership, and training. Our vision includes health behavior screening and education, community health update for public and private stakeholders, public and preventative health seminar series, and development of new public health research projects.

Job Summary

The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to work on developing methodologies and software packages in machine learning, computational statistics and bioinformatics and publishing in reputable journals in those fields. Based on personal research interests, the candidate will also have the opportunity to work on real-world data analysis related to bioinformatics, Alzheimer's disease, cancers, and cardiovascular diseases, and publish in biomedical journals.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop methodologies and software packages in machine learning, computational statistics, and bioinformatics under the guidance of the supervisor.
  • Perform statistical modeling and data analysis under the guidance of the supervisor.
  • Compose articles for publication in scientific journals; review articles prepared by others.
  • Presents findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally, and internationally. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality; Detail-oriented; Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases; Frequent contact with principal investigator to discuss results and to plan projects; Daily contact with faculty and other research staff, technologies, and technicians in core facilities and other laboratories to coordinate projects and conduct research; All AU, AU Medical Center, and AU Medical Associates positions are responsible for promoting a customer friendly environment and providing superior service as a part of their job.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

**This position is 100% grant-funded**

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
