Job Description

This role delivers exceptional category value to Pfizer stakeholders through the execution of global category strategies. Working closely with the Category Manager, Business Engagement and Enablement & Strategic Insights teams on strategic procurement category management activities for Drug Product PGS sites and from time to time supporting our Contract Manufacturing Organization teams in support of the PGS External Supply Organization.  The objective of this role is to continuously improve the value; quality and service received by Pfizer within the assigned spend areas through effective procurement and demand management practices.

This role is intended to focus on the Direct Materials - Packaging spend areas:   Final category assignment may be adjusted based on management assessment of priorities and opportunities.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Partner with the Category Managers and Lead the strategic procurement process within the assigned spend areas for Global Direct Materials- packaging, including: identify needs, conduct pre-project planning, define projects, collect internal and external data, perform strategic analysis and identify opportunities, implement sourcing strategies aligned with supplier and internal customer needs and develop implementation plans.

  • Form, lead and facilitate cross-functional teams as applicable to execute the procurement process and plans; enable supplier selection and decision process; lead / facilitate contract development, negotiation and execution process.

  • Develop appropriate risk management strategies to assure supply of Pfizer’s requirements.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support the procurement process i.e. requirements gathering.

  • Effectively utilize Pfizer’s eSourcing capabilities in advancing procurement initiatives i.e RFX development and execution, bid and award recommendation analysis.

  • Coordinate with other functions and impacted stakeholders to assure timely implementation and compliance with the agreed procurement strategies.

  • Work within S&ES and other Pfizer functions and departments to assist budget owners in development of operating budgets through effective communication of supplier pricing and related cost improvement initiatives

  • Partner with Category Management and enable the execution of Pfizer’s Supplier Relationship Management process in accordance with program guidelines.

  • Utilize the tools of Right First Time and Continuous Improvement to drive the resolution of issues and improve supplier performance.

  • Benchmark industry best practices in the assigned spend areas and lead the adoption within Pfizer as applicable.

  • Work with S&ES’s E&SI team to implement efficient P2P processes with assigned suppliers

  • Provide input and support to the development of S&ES colleagues globally who are working within the same spend areas.  As appropriate, participate in the objectives setting and alignment process for these colleagues.

  • Lead and/or participate on project teams as required or assigned.

  • Support Pfizer’s Diversity and Inclusion objectives as applicable to strategic category management within S&ES.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 10+ years of relevant experience;

  • OR an Associate's degree with eight years of experience;

  • OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least 5+ years of experience;

  • OR a Master’s degree with more than three years of experience;

  • OR a Ph.D. with 0+ years of experience.

  • Experience in Procurement or related experience, preferably in both strategic and operational roles.

  • Strong Knowledge of standard sourcing, contracting and savings process, category expertise, negotiation skills and strong analytical skills e.g. Microsoft excel

  • Strong interpersonal skills to drive coordination between legal and business stakeholders for contract completion, within cross functional/site/divisional environment;

  • Experience in management of major procurement projects both on a local and regional and global basis

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal interactions skills.

  • This will be a hybrid position working onsite 2/3 days per week.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $93,500.00 to $155,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
