What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an onsite Solutions Architect to join our dynamic team. The selected candidate will be responsible for a breadth of hardware and platform skills to include design and architecture of cloud native - on prem type systems, hardware procurement, hardware/system installation and setup, platform automation, as well as test and deployment of high consequence ground systems. The successful candidate will interact and partner with a team of Information Technology (IT) experts, software developers, integration and test engineers.

Salary Range:

$95,400 - $185,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and five (5) years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree and one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Experience in architecting IT solutions to address customer requests and meeting requirements for complexity, scalability, and availability of solutions.
  • Experience in configuration, installation, maintenance, and administration in at least two of the following:
  • Linux servers
  • Virtualized environments
  • System networking
  • System automation and automation tools
  • Wide-ranging and in-depth experience with, expert knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to apply information systems technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer science principles dealing with complexity, scalability, robustness, integrity, correctness, and protocols.
  • Ability to review and understand end-to-end work processes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Self-motivated and team oriented with good arbitration and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with COTS make/buy decisions.
  • Understanding of Computer Platform Engineering disciplines, particularly requirements.
  • Experience with system development lifecycle.
  • Experience with software defined platforms and networks.
  • Experience with configuration management principals and tools.
  • Experience with platform automation technologies and tools such as Ansible, cloud, and container technologies.
  • Experience with large scale satellite ground systems
  • Active DOE Q clearance

About Our Team:

The "System and Software Engineering Solutions" department is a capability based organization that architects, develops, integrates, tests, and deploys large highly reliable mission critical systems. We have expertise in R&D and Information Technology across many disciplines including large-scale software engineering, computer science, and computer engineering. Our specific capabilities include computer hardware/software architectures, system administration/networking, cyber security, failover/redundancy, continuous integration, system integration/verification, and performance assessment, automation, container orchestration, and cloud architecture. We bring to bear these capabilities to innovate high-rigor solutions while supporting existing critical customer needs. Responsibilities will include support for nonproliferation and national security missions for the US Nuclear Detonation Detection System.

Security Clearance:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
