College/Department Information

The Medical College of Georgia Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy is dedicated to understanding cellular function through state-of-the art research in areas such as autophagy and apoptosis, bone metabolism, developmental biology, molecular motors, dysphagia/swallowing disorders, exosome biology, renal disease, stem cell research, vision science (retina and cornea), and cell wounding. Our department is dedicated to understanding cellular function through state-of-the art research in areas such as autophagy and apoptosis, bone metabolism, developmental biology, molecular motors, dysphagia/swallowing disorders, exosome biology, renal disease, stem cell research, vision science (retina and cornea), and cell wounding. The Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy has as its core mission the advancement of outstanding research and education. We work collaboratively to discover new knowledge through innovative biomedical research, to transmit that knowledge to students, and to train future researchers, educators, and health care professionals.

Job Summary

Performs administrative and technical work in support of research initiatives in an assigned laboratory. Technical work includes Molecular/Cellular Biology experiments; Cell/Tissue culture; Animal breeding/handling; Vision function assessment. Administrative functions include maintaining a detailed lab record and supporting daily lab operations. The applicant is expected to participate in preparation of scientific manuscripts, attend lab meetings and present data at scientific meetings. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

Administrative/Technical Work: Performs administrative and technical work in support of research initiatives in an assigned laboratory.

Technical Work: Technical work includes Molecular/Cellular Biology experiments; Cell/Tissue culture; Animal breeding/handling; Vision function assessment.

Administrative Functions: Administrative functions include maintaining a detailed lab record and support daily lab operations.

Manuscripts and Meetings: Participate in preparation of scientific manuscripts; attend lab meetings and present data at scientific meetings.

Other: Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned, along with experience in research, basic science or a clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.

OR

Associate's degree from an accredited college/university in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned, along with three years of experience in research, basic science or a clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Memory for detail.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Salary minimum: $17.88 hourly.

Pay Band: B5

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
