Summary

The Center for Precision Environmental Health (CPEH) and laboratory of Dr. Cheryl Walker, investigates the role of the epigenome in health and disease.  These studies include discovery research to understand fundamental mechanisms regulating the function of the epigenetic machinery acting on both canonical (histone) and non-canonical (cytoskeleton) targets, how our early life environment impacts epigenomic programming during development to direct diseases susceptibility later in life, and the role of the epigenetic defects as drivers of cancer and liver disease.

This position is ideal for an individual who has training in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry and protein-protein interaction.  Experience in methods for epigenomic and transcriptomic profiling, including RNA- and ChIP-seq, WGBS and other transcriptome and epigenome profiling approaches, including single cell approaches is highly desirable.  The candidate will manage a team of trainees and technicians, and be expected to publish manuscripts and contribute data to grant submissions. The position also will provide opportunities to work with model organisms including C. elegans, and to gain expertise in bioinformatics approaches for analyzing and interpreting "omics" data.

Job Duties

• Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigator.
• Trains and supervises less experienced research staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral Degree in Genetics, Molecular or Cell Biology, or other Biomedical Sciences.
• Candidates are expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and record keeping skills; and the capacity to work independently and with inter-disciplinary teams.
