What Your Job Will Be Like:

Are you passionate about your work? Do you want to join a dynamic team that solves challenging issues? If so, Organization 03733, Acute Care, is currently seeking a Nurse Coordinator to join their team!

The selected candidate will schedule the work of, and coordinate, the day-to-day activities of nurses, medical assistants, and other staff. They will also maintain records of patients treated, prepare accident reports, provide health information, administer standard drugs and medicines, and refer contagious diseases or serious injuries to appropriate entities.

On any given day, one may be called upon to:

  • Provide nursing services and first aid to employees or persons who become ill or injured at work facilities
  • Coordinate health care related projects and events
  • Act as the infection preventionist champion for the center
  • Deliver direct nursing care
  • Give nursing diagnoses, interventions, referrals, and follow-up on a variety of patient or employee health issues, including urgent or emergent clinical problems
  • Perform return to work, fitness for duty, and restriction evaluations

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

Salary Range:

$81,900 - $157,500

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing, plus 5 years related experience
  • An active New Mexico Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • An active certification, or the ability to obtain an active certification, in basic life support (BLS) or CPR
  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Knowledge of and experience with the following:
  • Occupational health-related federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act, Nurse Practice Act, Workers’ Compensation, and the Family and Medical Leave Act
  • Issues, complications, and treatments relating to radiological, chemical, and biological hazards and diseases
  • Assisting with health promotion, preventive medicine, and health education initiatives
  • Nursing, patient advocacy, and occupational health issues, including protection of patient health information
  • RN Triage skills
  • Effective communication techniques
  • The ability to assess and evaluate patients' conditions; use the nursing process and professional judgment in planning and providing comprehensive care to patients
  • The ability to provide oversight of specialized clinics, such as urgent care, international travel, occupational medicine, and health management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong customer focus and the ability to interact with a large cross section of colleagues, customers, and partners
  • The ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values

About Our Team:

The Employee Health & Wellbeing Operations center provides a variety of health and wellness related services to employees. Occupational and preventive medicine programs, health management, case management, physical therapy, international travel, acute care, and emergency medical services are all conducted within this Center.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
