Job Description

Summary

The lab is seeking a candidate with a deep curiosity and interest in delving into the fascinating fields of neuroscience and neurodevelopment. Research Technician will have an academic background in biologic science and exposure to basic science research. This position will involve handling of mice and mouse behavior, electrophysiology, deep brain stimulation, and imaging. All training will occur on the job. The technician will be trained as and expected to operate as a neurosciences graduate student. They will be a fully incorporated member of the lab and will have duties directly related to the completion of experimental aims and the composition of peer reviewed science. Any "housekeeping" responsibilities will be given and distributed equally among all lab members and not in any greater extent to the research technician position.

Job Duties

  • Sets up genetic crosses, genotypes mice.
  • Performs mouse behavior, performs a wide variety of mouse surgical techniques, performs immunohistochemistry & associated imaging, is involved in data processing and analysis.
  • Makes scientific figures, assembles and presents research in formal and informal settings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.
  • Has coursework in biology and experience conducting basic science with rodent model systems.
