Summary

Seeking a self-motivated individual to work in a collaborative environment in the lab of Dr. Hyun Kyoung Lee and Dr. Hari Yalamanchili, Principal Investigator at the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, US (http://www.nri.texaschildrens.org).

Our research will focus on the identification of novel molecular signaling pathways and regulation in glial cell development. Leveraging both transcriptome and informatics analyses, we aim to deepen our understanding of these pathways. Based on these developmental studies, we will translate the findings to associated disorders in an effort to develop therapeutic interventions. To achieve this goal, we will utilize molecular and cellular approaches via transcriptome analyses, combined with classic genetic manipulation in mouse models and an array of CNS injury models; these studies will ultimately be applied to human neurological disorders.

Job Duties

  • Performs complex research of an advanced nature under the general direction of the Principal Investigator. Typically requires a high level of skills and expertise in the area of research specialty with independent working. The applicant must have excellent time management and organizational skills, and will be required to collect, analyze and appropriately document experimental results.
  • Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
  • Utilize essential bioinformatics tools and techniques to analyze high throughput Next Generation Sequencing datasets as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned such as maintaining lab inventories,
  • Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and presentations.
  • Works closely with other bench and computational scientists.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
