Procurement Senior Category Manager

Job Description

  • PBG Procurement support for the identification, selection, and ongoing management of suppliers. This includes sourcing goods and services with agility and speed via make/buy analysis, supply market analysis, opportunity assessment, sourcing/bidding, supplier negotiations, contracting, and supplier relationship management.
  • Category Management teams are responsible for Center-led Category Management and Strategic Sourcing capability across Marketing & Sales Services spend categories, ensuring all elements of category knowledge are in place and operating effectively at the market/cluster/region level.
  • The Category Strategy Manager is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of local/regional/multi-markets strategies and/or other critical projects for PBG Commercial Procurement as required.

Role responsibilities

The key tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and foster category strategies and deliver high added value support to key stakeholders
  • Provide Sourcing Leadership and Support for all phases of the sourcing process, including project identification and start up, data collection and analysis, option development and recommendation preparation, implementation and supplier management. 
  • Initiate, develop and prepare Opportunity Analysis, Make or Buy for specific spend areas and projects. Deliver targets established for the year.
  • Develop market expertise in assigned spend categories and remain current on supply market trends, business economics and best sourcing practices that impact the supply market and/or supplier economics.
  • Execute Sourcing Rf(x), pricing, and contract negotiations and develop/maintain strong Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) relationships with key suppliers to ensure that stakeholder requirements are met and supplier performance is measured and maintained at the appropriate service levels
  • Maintenance of Vendor on MAPP system
  • Managing QA Change notification to all stakeholders
  • Creating Due Diligence Questionnaire (DDQ) Requests and follow up on them
  • Lead and/or participate in multiple market complex, global strategic sourcing initiatives:
    • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams, often comprised of local, regional and global business and Procurement representatives, to ensure effective development and delivery of sourcing strategies.
    • Translate the requirements of the subject matter experts into contractual requirements and deliverables.
    • As assigned will develop, maintain, and foster implementation of comprehensive, long range, sourcing strategies and plans for assigned category spend areas.   
  • Provide customer relationship management to key stakeholders across different BUs. Be responsible for organization, implementation and ongoing management.
  • Ensure proactive and relevant strategies are delivered in a timely manner aligned with current and future business requirements
  • Lead and/or participate on project teams as required or assigned.
  • Continually evaluate and monitor market conditions and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
  • Support Pfizer's Diversity and Sustainability objectives as applicable to strategic category management within Procurement.
  • Provide input and support to the development of procurement colleagues globally who are working within the same spend areas.
  • Educate and engage leaders in procurement, supporting the delivery and application of Sourcing Frameworks and tools to advance standardization and optimization of sourcing execution.

Qualifications

  • At least 7-10 years relevant experience with Procurement; preferably Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  MBA and/or CIPS/CPM/CPSM or equivalent accreditation desirable
  • Strong analytical skills & strategic thinking required.
  • Management skills in assessing business issues
  • Project Management experience required
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills - verbal and written
  • Proven negotiation and influencing skills
  • Able to work at all levels of the organization and in complex structures
  • English language skill required
