What Your Job Will Be Like:

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Facilities Team Lead to establish a new Construction Services Group. This group will enable Sandia to independently execute construction services at its New Mexico location. We are looking for a dynamic leader with an electrical background who has the experience, drive, and vision to develop this new capability.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Lead a new team to develop in-house construction and operations capabilities, enhancing agility and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with managers and senior leaders to expand Sandia’s self-performance in construction projects.
  • Utilize expertise in leadership, facilities and infrastructure engineering, project management, construction management, acquisition strategies, and operations to guide the team.
  • Recruit, build, and maintain teams responsible for managing craft workers.
  • Develop strategies for logistics, work planning, and resource retention.
  • Partner with leaders in centers throughout Sandia Labs to foster strong relationships in planning, design, maintenance, projects, safety, and inspection.
  • Create processes, systems, and metrics to onboard and guide the workforce effectively.
  • Identify necessary systems and resources, collaborate across functional areas for acquisition, and oversee their integration into the new group.
  • Ensure excellence by managing deliverables, program and project plans, budgets, schedules, and staffing requirements.
  • Work with internal & external Architectural/Engineering Firms and Construction Contractors to ensure compliance with Sandia’s processes, procedures, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Participate in on-call work as needed.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected candidate must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

Salary Range:

$95,400 - $157,500

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field plus 1 year of exempt experience in facilities, project management, building operations, strategic planning, maintenance, construction management, commercial or residential electrical experience, or other relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of previously mentioned experience, or an Associate's degree in a related discipline plus 9 years of previously mentioned experience, or a High School diploma plus 13 years of previously mentioned experience.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • 2 or more years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with safety related programs related to OSHA 1926, and 10 CFR 851.
  • Professional registrations and/or certifications in Facilities related areas such as: Project Management Professional, EE-98J, ER-1J, or Construction Management Certification.
  • Experience working with union contracts and employee labor relations.
  • Facilities experience with project execution or facility management.
  • Broad and balanced construction-related experience (systems engineering, operations, project delivery, procurement, construction, and design).
  • Broad knowledge of SNL processes, policies and procedures related to design, construction, procurement, finance, and facilities.
  • Experience with project estimating planning, scheduling, managing budgets, and risk management.

About Our Team:

The 4750 Construction Service Team is being stood up to provide a more agile option to performing construction work at Sandia. We will establish core construction capabilities that will provide general construction, mechanical, electrical and plumbing capabilities. If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
