Summary
The Program in Population and Environmental Health Disparities in the Center for Precision Environmental Health and Department of Medicine (Section of Epidemiology and Populations Sciences) at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Associate to oversee data curation, data management, and data analyses for ongoing research projects. The Program is home to an NIH P50 Center of Excellence on Environmental Health Disparities Research, the Maternal and and Infant Environmental Health Riskscape Center. The Research Associate will have the opportunity to participate in multiple research projects involving study implementation, data collection, statistical analysis and publication.
This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
Job Duties
- Assures study compliance with all terms and conditions.
- Conducts literature reviews and summarizes findings of previous research in exposure science and epidemiology.
- Creates and updates databases in SAS for research projects involving primary data collection and secondary data from electronic health records, the TX Dept. of State Health Services, the U.S. Census, U.S. EPA and other sources.
- Constructs place-based metrics and link to source databases for use in epidemiological analyses.
- Performs statistical analyses in SAS and R.
- Creates tables and figures of analysis results for manuscripts or scientific presentations.
- Summarizes statistical findings of epidemiologic analyses.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field.Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
- Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Environmental Health, Statistics, or related field.
- Three years of relevant experience in environmental health research.
- Experience working with large datasets.
- Experience using SAS or R is required.
- Evidence of scientific writing is a plus.
