BMT-CI Data Quality Sr

Job Summary:

  • The BMT-CI Data Quality Sr is responsible for providing quality assurance support to the BMT CI Data team by providing oversight and auditing with a goal of high level of data accuracy from abstraction and direct feeds from various sources.

 

Oversees the quality assurance needs of the BMT-CI Data Team. Facilitates and monitors quality of data. Analyzes data, identifies issues and provides education to resolve deficiencies. Subject matter expert on the standards, requirements, and reporting as per Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR), National Marrow Donors Program (NMDP), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), and internal BMT-CI Departmental goals.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Performs quality assurance over data within a regulated clinical, manufacturing, or blood or tissue banking environment.
  • Experienced applying quality management, performance improvement, and customer service approach.
  • Versed in blood/marrow transplantation, apheresis, hematology/oncology, and cellular therapy clinical activities.
  • Demonstrates ability to establish, implement, and audit data using regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Advanced experience producing technical reports and utilizing Microsoft Excel and Visio.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Participates in outlining the policies and procedures for the internal audit program, developing the framework of quality controls and a remediation process in collaboration with the BMT-CI leadership and teams.
  • Supports the development of a proactive data quality detection program.
  • Pro-actively identifies areas of risk and brings them forward with recommendations to address.
  • Oversees that the error rate is within allowed parameters defined for the team and develops corrective action plan to improve error rates as appropriate.
  • Participates in departmental meetings to present audits, dashboards, and reports.
  • Collaborates with team members as needed to develop the recommendations to implement and improve processes.
  • Maintains updated knowledge on current regulatory abstraction guidelines to help develop standardized abstraction guidelines, SOPs, and Instruction Manuals for the department.
  • Supports inspection preparation activities and may be called upon to remain with inspector(s) during external audits/inspections.
  • Participates in quality control procedures.
  • Participates in BMT CI Program educational activities as well as other opportunities to maintain data management competencies.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Health Sciences, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in data abstraction, data management, quality management, and navigating electronic and other forms of medical record keeping.
  • Experience in either BMT CI data management or in a regulatory environment.
  • Experience using database technology and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system in a medical research or healthcare facility, preferably oncology or bone and marrow transplant.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Words, Power-Point, and Visio.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail in producing accurate and high-quality deliverables.
  • Self-motivated with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and multi-task under tight deadline with little oversight.
