Summary

The Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Baylor College of Medicine is looking for a Research Coordinator I to coordinate day to day activities of the IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) clinical trials activities. This is a full time position, on-site with the opportunity to work alongside a team and the PIs directly. The ideal candidate will manage IRB, regulatory and budget aspects of several grants in addition to managing data collection, patient recruitment and enrollment by opt-out mailed invitation, and conducting standardized surveys by telephone.

Job Duties

  • Interviews, administer surveys, screens, and recruit patients for multiple ongoing therapeutic and non-therapeutic clinical trials explains process and procedures to educate the participant regarding research study.
  • Schedules research participant for tests and procedures, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
  • Corresponds with patient throughout the study.
  • Receives on the job training of blood draws, EKGs/ECGs and vital signs prior to performing on study participants.
  • Collects, process, ships, and maintains paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
  • Assists with daily administrative tasks like preparing study materials, photocopying, organizing and filing documents, mailing study materials, working with confidential files.
  • Provides detailed patient information for study, including scheduling for follow-ups.
  • Assists in the basic upkeep of institutional review board (IRB) documents for the active studies, including submission of amendments and continual review.
  • Orders / organizes laboratory research supplies and equipment.
  • Enters data from clinical trials into sponsor's electronic data capture systems and ensures accuracy of data entry.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience with EPIC.
  • Organized, self-motivated, teamwork, works well under pressure, multitasking.
