Job Description
Job SummaryThis position is part of a peer-learning community focusing on fostering health-focused and
collaborative projects that serve the simulation & experiential learning community for the
University of Utah health sciences. The position is part of the library’s technology group and will
work closely with a faculty member in the Eccles Health Sciences Library (EHSL) to build and
maintain an Extended Reality (XR) classroom and 3D printing service. Job duties would include deploying tools and simulations, maintaining and updating technologies, and designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications for use in Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) and in automated 3D printing in the health sciences.
Responsibilities
Teaching/consulting
Assist users in deploying applications and creating guides to support content
Work alongside members of the Health Sciences Community to determine apps, tools or games in AR/VR relevant to curriculum needs
Consult on projects pertaining to 3D printing and help in designing 3D models for health sciences students, staff and faculty
Development
Collaborate with university health sciences departments and offices to develop or maintain learning content in AR/VR
Maintain and upkeep automated 3D printing software
Manage Equipment
Manage, maintain and update AR/VR headsets for a 15-person student classroom
Maintain a minimum of four hours of in-person open lab/classroom hours a week
Lend expertise on other technology projects as deemed necessary
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
