We are seeking an experienced R&D systems engineer with an electrical engineering background (job title: R&D Electrical Engineer) for the W80-4 Life Extension Program.When you join our team, you will be part of a diverse, collaborative group that values individual contributions and encourages a culture of respect for all. Systems Engineers contribute in the following ways:

  • Collaborate with component teams and our production agencies to resolve issues for successful system integration
  • Facilitate test execution to verify requirements and qualify hardware
  • Analyze test data to mature the system design and position the system for entry into production
  • Collaborate on maturation of requirements for specific areas or components
  • Provide technical solutions for critical system design elements
  • Present at technical design reviews
  • Represent Sandia on multi-organizational project teams

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.Applicants on this requisition may be interviewed by multiple organizations at Sandia National Laboratories.

Salary Range:

$130,100 - $258,900

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline plus 5 or more years' related experience or Master's degree in a relevant discipline, plus 3 or more years related experience; or PhD in related discipline; or equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
  • Academic or job experiences in areas such as: engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience working on systems or component requirements, design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects
  • Familiarity with engineering tools and languages such as, MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++, Python, and mod/sim tools
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling
  • Ability to team well with others and listen to different perspectives

About Our Team:

Sandia National Laboratories has a history of service to the nation. Our roots lie in the Manhattan Project from the early atomic energy era of World War II. The various Systems Engineering Departments of the W80-4 Life Extension Program (LEP) are intended to strengthen our nation’s strategic deterrence, by modernizing the W80 warhead and integrating it with the Long-Range Standoff (LRSO) missile. The program’s scope includes design and qualification of the warhead and integration of non-nuclear and nuclear components within the warhead.

Security Clearance:
