As a successful candidate, you will:
The Digital Experience Design & Content Manager is responsible for leveraging design thinking methodologies to develop and implement innovative business strategies. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare systems, technology trends, and user needs. The Digital Experience Design & Content Manager works closely with cross-functional teams, including healthcare professionals, software developers, marketing, designers, and other stakeholders to drive the development and adoption of digital health products that align to City of Hope’s strategic objectives. This position requires a strong understanding of healthcare market dynamics, consumer behavior, and emerging user trends. Working at the intersection of digital strategy and design thinking, this role involves integrating innovative design methodologies into the product design and development process to create new or enhanced products, services, or solutions to grow digital maturity and adoption across the organization.
User Strategic Planning and Research
- Conducts comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscapes. Use this information to inform design decisions and business strategies.
- Conducts competitive analysis to identify opportunities and risks across the healthcare digital landscape.
- Conducts and synthesizes ethnographic research and primary interviews with users and stakeholders to understand their needs, preferences and pain points.
- Transcribes, codes and analyzes data using appropriate software and methodologies.
- Communicates the vision and strategy for digital healthcare products within the health system, incorporating both business and design perspectives.
- Vets new concepts for feasibility, desirability, and viability -as well as potential for scale across the enterprise.
- Leads content creation through research, writing and editing content for various digital channels, including web, digital applications and educational tools. Content may include patient education, advocacy, clinical training and health education.
Design & Design Management
- Leads and manages design projects, ensuring that design concepts are aligned with digital products and solution objectives.
- Presents design concepts and clearly articulate ideas to leaders, developers, and stakeholders.
- Creates a wide variety of UI deliverables that fit the specific design challenge, including – whiteboard sketches, wireframes, and prototypes.
- Designs, writes, edits and tests clear, compelling language for products that that help consumers, patients, providers, and stakeholders manage the oncology journey.
- Creates intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for web and mobile applications that make it easy for users to navigate, access information and perform tasks.
- Assists in implementing responsive designs that improve the user's experience with digital products on desktop and mobile devices. Ensures accessibility for all users.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including clinicians, IT, engineering, marketing, patient experience, and administrators to ensure seamless integration of design strategies, support product adoption and support user needs.
- Creates processes and tools to support the user experience and digital content needs. Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and system experience.
- Partners with Marketing on development of marketing plans, content, materials, and strategies to ensure promotion, adoption, utilization and growth of digital assets.
Product Development & Management
- Creates innovative user-centric solutions, products and offerings leveraging design principles and product management experience.
- Produces high-quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, journey maps, and prototypes.
- Designs UI elements and tools such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs, and widgets for our digital assets.
- Collaborates with software development, marketing, IT, clinical/ops and other internal teams to define product features and functionality.
- Rapidly prototypes conceptual product ideas, designs user flows based on data analysis and user research, gets feedback from different stakeholders, iterate designs and build products for best user experience.
- Continuously optimizes and is responsible for overall product experience.
- Prioritizes product features, creates user stories, and manages the product backlog.
- Actively develops and manages a data-driven user-centered product roadmap.
- Designs and builds the UI flow and creates and implements all UI assets across the content; this includes menus, front end, and in-experience interaction interface.
- Leads content creation for various digital channels, including research. Creates and oversees the development of various types of product content, including health education materials, product videos, guides, training materials, and other relevant digital care content.
Performance Analysis
- Monitors, tests and evaluates the performance of design-driven elements and initiatives, utilizing key performance indicators to measure the success of implemented strategies and identifying areas for improvement.
- Conducts usability testing and gathers user feedback to refine the product's design.
- Assists in the interpretation and synthesis of metrics and user-research.
- Contributes to the development of product summaries, presentations, research reports and the like.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Your qualifications should include:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e. healthcare, design, technology, public health, business, marketing)
- Five (5) years of experience in healthcare digital user research, product design & management, healthcare writing & design, or a related role with five (5) years of experience in design thinking and UX design

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $49.75 - $79.59 / hour
The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
