The Department of Biology at Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Biology specializing in Conservation Biology. The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in Conservation Biology and/or Wildlife and Fisheries Biology. Teaching responsibilities may include Conservation Biology (CBIO 200), an Ecosystems course such as Wetlands (CBIO 420), Terrestrial Ecosystems (CBIO 430), or Freshwater Aquatic Ecosystems (CBIO 440), and other courses based on the candidate’s expertise in support of the Conservation Biology curriculum. The instructional faculty member will have the primary responsibilities of teaching, research/scholarship, and service functions and shall be held accountable for these obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, the School, and the Department. To ensure a smooth transition into our academic community, the successful candidate will participate in LMU’s New Faculty Academy. Additionally, during their first year, the new faculty member will enjoy moderated scholarship and service expectations while receiving guidance and support from a faculty mentor assigned by the department. A terminal degree (PhD) in Conservation Biology, Wildlife and Fisheries Biology, or an allied field is required.

support and promote the university’s SEWS and Transparent Instruction programs within the curriculum;

assist the department chair with necessary department, school or university reports/schedules as requested;

demonstrate current knowledge of discipline content and assist the department chair with curricular revisions and changes as requested;

appropriately align course syllabi goals and objectives to academic major program goals and student outcomes for each course taught;

develop a current syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each student;

submit a current copy of each syllabus to the department chair by a predetermined deadline;

evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline;
Job Duty
requisition instructional materials and supplies through the department chair;
Job Duty
assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument for the semester as requested;
Job Duty
participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major;
Job Duty
establish and maintain the resources of the academic department, the school, and the University;
Job Duty
submit to department chair his/her semester schedule that indicates weekly teaching assignment, office/conference hours and involvement in university, school and department councils or committees;

effectively advise assigned students in an individualized educational plan for their program of study and maintain an accurate and current academic file for each advisee;
Job Duty
explore career goals with each assigned advisee;
Job Duty
mentor majors through the research process;
Job Duty
fulfill the university’s scholarship expectation through research, publication, grant development, and creative achievement;
Job Duty
participate in events that support the institution, the faculty, staff and students;

participate in commencement exercises;

participate in community and public service opportunities;

attend department, school, convocation, and university faculty meetings;

promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large;

participate on university committees;

maintain proper security for all University files and information and follow privacy procedures at all times;

maintain records and procedures for duties and responsibilities of position;

complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites;
