Summary

The X-ray Core is seeking a Research Technician III to investigate the structure and function of macromolecules andtheir functional complexes with nucleic acid and drug-like small molecules. Applicants must have relevant experience in computational structural biology. The successful applicant will implement and develop new computational methodsusing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning that is transforming the structural biology field, to accelerate ourefforts in 3D structure prediction and drug discovery. This is a full-time, in-person research position.

Job Duties

  • Perform system administration tasks in a UNIX-like environment under LINUX and macOS.
  • Maintains the computational laboratory environment.
  • Responsible for transferring terrabyte of data, secure large data sets, and maintain data for easy retrieval.
  • Uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop new methods in computational structural biology
  • Performs structure prediction using AlphaFold 2.
  • Performs in silico docking of protein-ligand complexes to accelerate drug discovery efforts.
  • Analyzes data and writes reports related to computational experiments performed.
  • Develops new core services in computational structure biology using AI and machine learning.
  • Serves as an instructor for the new Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences Program offered by the X-ray Core.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science, computer science or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, or related field.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Two years of relevant experience.
