Job Description

Summary

This position as PRN-Ultrasound Technologist I, will specifically function as back up, in case of need, to cover the Echo lab as Echo Cardiac sonographer (in the absence of full time employee) for Baylor Heart Clinic, operating with Echo-imaging equipment (GE,Philip), and monitors examination by viewing images to evaluate the quality and consistency of diagnostic heart images and provide patient safety and comfort. Providing high-quality images and assists physicians in performing Echo Stress tests by performing a preliminary scan.


The ideal candidate must have Echo (Cardiology) ultrasound experience. This position will work closely with all members of cardiology, including other Echo Technologists, other members of diagnostic team, ordering and reading physicians, mid-levels, schedulers, nurses, medical assistants and front desk staff.

Job Duties

  • Performs Transthoracic Echo and Stress Echo, operating on Echo Ultrasound-Imaging Equipment (GE/Philips).
  • Records and Stores the images in Digisonics.
  • Works in EPIC electronic medical records.
  • Checks in with reading physician for any concerns about a patients' status/diagnostic prior to patients' departure.
  • Checks the schedule in advance to ensure orders are in the patient's chart prior to their arrival.
  • Makes sure that studies are all read in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the test is finalized under the correct exam/order and is billed properly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).New employees who are not currently registered, must register within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of Echo Cardiology ultrasound experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
