Summary
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan is seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our growing multidisciplinary research team. The Statistician will work with investigators and other research team members to carry out a range of programming and analytic tasks accurately and efficiently for a number of studies. This will include supporting studies both already concluded and actively collecting data through data management, statistical data analysis using SAS, preparation of results and reports for investigators, as well as the presentation of data in figures and tables. The individual must be self-motivated and have a strong interest in programming and working with large datasets, as this position will entail extensive data management.

Responsibilities*
Process and combine data sources including administrative data, complex surveys, and semi-structured and structured interviews for multidisciplinary mental health services research.
Employ appropriate data management techniques given the data structure and specific research and evaluation questions. Detailed documentation of database structure and content.
Under the supervision of project principal investigators and biostatisticians, execute analyses such as logistic regression.
Attend regular meetings with project investigators and research team to discuss progress and prepare presentations of study findings, including drafting methods and results sections of reports and papers as it relates to data processing/management.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Public Health (Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or Health Services), Informatics, Social Sciences, or related field.
1-3 years of related professional experience.
Desired Qualifications*
Master's degree in Statistics, Public Health (Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or Health Services), Informatics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Previous experience processing and manipulating data in other statistical applications such as R, SPSS, or Stata.
Prior experience working with research and/or healthcare data (e.g., protected health information data).
Experience using statistical models including linear and logistic regression, mixed effects models, latent class models, and machine learning approaches.
Experience with writing and editing programs in SAS to process and manage data.
Ability to code in python.
Be able to process and manage data and conduct statistical analyses using SAS, and must be open to learning other programs.
Have demonstrated data management skills and experience preparing data for analysis.
Have at least introductory knowledge of statistical theory and application, and a willingness to learn and apply new methods and approaches.
Have excellent technical writing skills for documenting database structure and content.
Have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to independently prepare correspondence (e.g. email messages) and write/edit/produce report.
