Job Summary
The Division of Research and Innovation is seeking an Operations Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Division of Research and Innovation (DRI) supports research and innovation across Oregon State University (OSU), developing partnerships and maximizing our impact. OSU’s research activity is grounded in our colleges, schools and departments, as well as centers, institutes, and core facilities. As an institute reporting through the DRI, the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Institute (ATAMI) is a research and commercialization facility located on the Corvallis HP campus. ATAMI is also an Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies (ONAMI) Signature Research Center.

The Operations Manager (Manager) reports to the Director of ATAMI and administers operations and activities related to building occupancy, activities, and maintenance including user access, leasing, vendor services, landlord engagement, and environmental, health and safety policy and compliance. This position will be the primary ATAMI liaison to the OSU Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) department as well as other campus officials. The Manager develops, maintains, curates, and follows procedures for executing activities. The Manager occasionally oversees building construction and modification projects, including working with OSU Capital Planning, HP, and outside design and construction contractors. This position will work closely with EH&S on evaluating, monitoring, and guiding safe laboratory work practices and affect the research laboratories utilized by the student body, vendors, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
30% Facility Operations
Daily research facility oversight. Curate ATAMI Operation Guidelines document. Manage user processes including badging, training, usage reporting, and invoicing. Manage expense budgets, develop annual budget with Director. Maintain familiarity with OSU-HP Master lease terms and conditions to ensure compliance with the lease. Administer tenant lease process. Ensure tenant activities comply with City of Corvallis wastewater discharge rules, requesting waivers and responding to audits, as necessary. Serve as primary contact with HP/HP designee. Coordinate HP activities within ATAMI. Oversee facility renovations (as needed) including design review, oversight of construction activities, and commissioning.

30% Environmental Health & Safety
Manage building safety activities and compliance, including responding to OSU EHS laboratory assessments, audits, and Corvallis Fire Department inspections, among others. Curate and administer the ATAMI Emergency Operation Plan. Lead ATAMI Safety Team meetings, provide consistent communications to foster a positive and safe work environment. Coordinate and participate in the ATAMI Emergency Operations Response Team. Monitor ATAMI hazardous materials inventories through the OSU online inventory system and through safety assessments, manage access and promote compliance by all tenants, occupants, and users. In coordination with OSU EHS, perform assessments of hazardous materials operations, handling, and storage facilitating compliance with state and federal regulations.

30% Building Systems Operation, Maintenance, and Repair
Responsible for building systems operation including makeup air handlers, exhaust fans, boiler, chillers, and control systems. Establish and maintain procedures for operations and maintenance, respond to issues and faults, coordinate outside service and repairs.

10% Other duties as assigned and supervision of student workers.
What You Will Need
Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field 5 years’ experience in facilities operation including safety management.
Working knowledge of hazardous materials and codes, regulations and administrative procedures.
Experience with mechanical systems operation, i.e., air handling equipment and controls.
Excellent people skills: ability to constructively collaborate across organizations and work with a wide range of customers.
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing an inclusive workplace.

Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
