Job Description
Argonne National Laboratory has an opportunity for a talented Physical Security Manager within the Security and Travel Services (STS) Division. This position will be responsible for a wide range of activities in support of the physical security posture of the Argonne campus. Responsibilities include:
- Completing threat and risk assessments and evaluating physical and electronic security systems to protect Laboratory facilities and assets.
- Conducting analysis of third-party security systems to protect high value assets and making recommendations to improve the security posture and reduce risk in accordance with the site risk assessment.
- Overseeing the engineering and designing of electronic circuits to enhance the operation and security of door access systems and maintaining/enhancing the Laboratory’s DSX and Lenel OnGuard systems.
- Designing, procuring, evaluating, and maintaining electronic and computer security systems to include sensor, barrier, and surveillance technologies.
- Implementing unique security, electrical optical, infrared & microwave detection, badging, and entry control systems, to meet specific Laboratory/DOE requirements.
- Conducting security planning and assessments of Laboratory facilities and assets.
- Assisting in the maintenance of the Laboratory’s security risk assessment as required.
- Managing and providing direction for physical security personnel.
- Conducting management assessments and participating in surveys.
- Managing security vendor contracts and relationships.
- Conducting benchmarking with private and government institutions, propose program enhancements to the directorate for consideration.
Position Requirements
- Knowledge of the Milestone Camera Software and following video assessment and surveillance system components: coaxial and ethernet cameras (fixed, PTZ, 180-deg, 360-deg), camera mounts (ceiling, wall, pendant, parapet, indoor/outdoor), ethernet IP addressing, ethernet limitations, ethernet switches and patch panels, and power-over-ethernet (PoE)
- Considerable experience in assessing and designing physical and electronic security systems as well as development of security policies, procedures and plans to safeguard critical infrastructure and other high-value assets.
- Comprehensive knowledge in the design, operation, and use of intrusion detection systems, building access systems electronics (digital and analog), electronic surveillance systems, cameras, computer operations, configuring system peripherals and connections, audio (intercom systems), UPS systems, fiber-optic systems and sophisticated electronic security systems.
- Ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of technical, professional and senior management personnel.
- Considerable skill in independently handling a full workload that involves complex regulations, interpreting these regulations, establishing priorities, maintaining good working relationships with divisions and DOE, and combining tact and persuasion in these work relationships.
- Considerable oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, organization and time management skills, and the ability to work independently and lead a team.
- Position on-call 24/7, and must work off-shift when required.

Preferred
- Knowledge of DOE/ANL policies and procedures relating to the physical security program. Preferable knowledge in applicable DOE orders and manuals to include: TSCM & TEMPEST.
To perform the essential functions of this position successful applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, which is required to comply with federal regulations and contract. Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a “Q” clearance. Reviews and tests for the absence of illegal drugs as defined in 10 CFR 707.4 will be conducted by the Laboratory, and a background investigation will be conducted for employment.

• Minimum of a 4-year college degree or equivalent experience, preferably in an electrical engineering or security related field and 5+ years of demonstrated work experience.
