Job Description

Our Environmental Science division (EVS) is currently looking for an Assistant Atmospheric Scientist to focus on urban and regional scale modeling. In this role you will assist scientists from the Atmospheric Science and Climate Research group in conducting high spatial resolution simulations of urban and regional scale climate. In particular, this position is for applications of WRF and similar regional scale weather/climate models for performing high-resolution simulations for urban environments, develop LES scale simulation capabilities for urban boundary layer that includes building energy and building physics models; experience in using other models such as UFS for modeling sea-breeze, lake-breeze and its interactions with urban environments.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum educational requirement for this position is a Ph.D. in physical science or engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and experience of numerical methods and solvers.
  • Experience and use of high performance computing platforms.
  • Process scale models of atmospheric phenomena experience using WRF.
  • Expertise and interest in data analysis and visualization.
  • Experience in using HPC systems, strong background in numerical modeling and in performing data analysis is required.
