What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Technical Business Development Specialist to join the Business and Competitive Intelligence and DAV-C department. On any given day, you may be called upon to develop and implement a continuum of business development functions to support Sandia’s mission, research, and technology strategies. Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct primary research to prepare materials to communicate Sandia’s success in technology transfer and partnerships, including success stories, award nomination, and other related materials via various internal and external channels.
  • Keeps informed about developments in government, economic, scientific, and other fields related to program mission objectives.
  • Manages proposal development, compiles and drafts technical and partnership elements of proposals.
  • Prepares briefings for leadership and Federal sponsors, including but not limited to NNSA and DOE.
  • Establishing and maintaining key customer relationships.
  • Maintaining Sandia’s web presence and ensuring content is updated regularly.
  • Develops long-form case studies to regularly assess and share information related to specific Sandia-developed technologies and relevant partnerships.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$66,900 - $150,000

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Research, Economics, National Security or relevant discipline plus four or more years of experience; or Master's degree in Business or relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience (12 years relevant experience)
  • Experience with writing and editing for large and complex projects, including interviewing subject matter experts, conducting research and drafting documentation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L Security Clearance

Sandia National Laboratories Business & Competitive Intelligence and DAV-C teams support the development of future business, programs, and science and technology investments by evaluating opportunities related to current and future partners and sponsors, assessing markets and research environments, anticipating changes, providing reliable and actionable analyses, and making strategic inputs to assist leadership. The department also provides data analysis and visualization to support leadership decision making, streamline business processes, enhance technology usability and facilitate internal and external collaborations.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
