We are looking to recruit a

Research Associate in Data Science Management

Your Job:
We are offering you a position in the Department of High-Throughput Methods in Photovoltaics (Head: Prof. Christoph Brabec). Our vision is to use modern data-driven research approaches to accelerate materials research and develop the next GW photovoltaic technology. We use automated research equipment to experimentally produce, characterize, and optimize solar cells. In doing so, we collect a lot of research data, which is stored and reused for research using artificial intelligence and machine learning. We conduct research on perovskites, organic semiconductors, and also classic silicon photovoltaics in the field. Your tasks in detail:

-Creation of ontologies based on the data obtained
-Development and implementation of structures for the storage of large amounts of data generated by experimental research and simulations including interfaces for the evaluation and reuse of the stored data by research scientists
-Development and implementation of interfaces for automated data transfer from experimental setups to a database
-Training and support for scientists working with research data
-Documentation of data workflows and data infrastructure
-Support of the administration and ongoing development of software and hardware infrastructure
-Close collaboration with automation experts, data and material scientists to improve and use a fast and reliable electrochemical testing process

Your Profile:
-Master’s degree in information sciences, such as computer science, data science, or computational engineering; alternatively, applicants with a master’s degree in natural sciences with an affinity for IT are also welcome to apply
-Excellent programming skills (Python is desired, other programming languages are also welcome)
-Interest in the topics of research data management and open data
-Basic knowledge of database operation and programming (SQL is desired)
-Knowledge of existing standards for research data management and databases (e.g. NOMAD Oasis) is desirable
-Independent and structured working style based on a very high level of personal responsibility
-Openness to acquiring new knowledge
-Strong communication skills and good knowledge of English; knowledge of German is desirable
